The military is working on death lasers and while that may an expensive endeavor, you don’t need millions of dollars to get in one for the fun. Making a homemade laser tag gun is easy and doesn’t cost a lot of money. In this post, we tell you how to make a laser tag gun at home.
Things You’ll Need:
- Conductive thread
- Needle and thread
- Flex sensors
- Laser pointer
Design and create the circuit
The first thing you should do is design the circuit. Use the breadboard and Arduino to create the design. The wires will come handy for connecting different components like laser pointer and flex sensors to see if they work well. Connect two of the flex sensors to LEDs and they’ll light up. The button can be connected to laser pointer. All of these help you know how to make use of different components and code afterwards.
Test the circuit
This is easy enough since all you have to do is ensure the circuit you designed is functional. For instance, pressing on the button should turn on the laser pointer whole bending the flex sensors should get the LEDs to turn on.
This is where you solder all components together, keeping in mind what the design looks like. The idea is to recreate your design and eliminate the need for breadboard. The components will be directly connected to the Arduino.
Sew components to glove
Start with the most important components such as the laser pointer. Consider sewing the laser pointer onto the index finger. You can use glue to attach the laser pointer to the glove. Alternatively, you can fit the components into a toy squirt gun. Test everything again to ensure it works before use.
