Floating pumice

No water - no floating!;-)
Santorini is a Greek Island in the Mediterranean. The Santorini volcano erupted in about 1613 BCE and blew the top off of the volcano. This was also known as the "Minoan Eruptian".

The remaining island is covered in volcanic ash. The hardened ash, or pumice erodes and breaks off and can be found floating along the beach.
