| Agenda | Every student needs to use the school provided agenda. This agenda must be brought to school daily and should also be taken home daily. |
| Math Notebook | Used for assigned work from texts; definitions & examples put on board during math class. (81/2 X 11 grid) - Usually 2 or 3 per year. |
| Math Workbook | Covers most of the Grade 4 math curriculum. Pages assigned for practice or as quizes. All pages to be completed by year's end. Ontario Math Workbook 4 |
| MMM Duo-Tang | Daily number fact drill sheets (MMM Term 1 & 2, MMNC Term 3) |
| Problem Solving Duo-Tang | Weekly problem solving units include Term 1: Playing with Logic (PWL), Term 2 Word Problems (WP), Mind Benders (MB) and Term 3 Problem of the Week (POTW). The duo-tang needs to be at school every Tuesday. At other times it can be at home for completion & studying. |

| English Notebook | Used for in class & at home writing assignments. Cursive practice in Term 1. Rough copy of creative writing, speech. (81/2 X 11 lined) Usually 2 per year |
| Yearbook Notebook | Used to write articles for class yearbook, FMTW - Five Minute Timed Writing activities. (7 X 9 lined) - 1 per year |
| Spelling Duo-Tang | Used for spelling pre-tests and weekly spelling assignments. On Mondays pre-tests are given & time in class to start on the assignment. The assignment needs to be completed at home. On Thursday the assignment is taken up. |

| Spelling Text | The Canadian Spelling Program II |
| Home Journal | This notebook is used for students to write to their parents weekly. Parents are asked to write back. The notebook needs to be at school every Wednesday. (7 X 9 lined) Usually 2 per year. |
| Reading Log Duo-Tang | Reading Summary and Reading Log Sheets to completed whenever a novel is finished. The Reading Log will be collected and evaluated monthly. |
| Novel | Students are required to have a novel in their desk at all time. Novel reading is the recommended activity when other work is completed. |
| Odds & Ends Notebook | Notes relating to health, music, physical education subjects will be found in here. (7 X 9 lined) Usually 1 per year. |
| Science Notebook | Used for notes from the board, reflections on class discussions & videos and assignments. Contributes to term mark. (7 X 9 lined) Usually 1 per term |
| Social Studies Notebook | Used for notes from the board, reflections on class discussions & videos and assignments. Contributes to term mark. (7 X 9 lined) Usually 1 per term |
| Test Duo-Tang | Contains tests and evaluations - mainly for math, some science & social studies. Some project evaluations. Table of Contents to list tests and score. |
| French Duo-Tang | Used to organize handouts from French class. Includes Weekly French TV watching record. |
| French Dictionary Duo-Tang | Student created French vocabulary dictionary. |
| French Workbook | Pages to be completed as assigned. These are kept in a bin in the classroom. |
| French-English Dictionary | Student should purchase their own dictionary. Otherwise a small class set of French-English dictionaries is provided. |
| 2 pencils | Most notebooks must be written in pencil. Mechanical pencils are discouraged unless student is responsible enough to take care of leads. Pencils with quality erasers on tips encouraged. |
| eraser | Art or "pink pearl" eraser recommended. |
| 2 pens | Used for writing final published works and for marking work. Students may not bring "white-out" to school. Students should use black or blue for writing. Other colours are OK for marking. |
| pencil sharpener | The one with an attached container to catch the shavings is preferred. |
| ruler | 30 cm ruler with millimeters required. May be borrowed from school. |
| calculator | Small inexpensive calculator with % function needed. |
| scissors | Small pair of scissors required. |
| glue | Glue stick or small bottle of glue. |
| highlighter | To be used in learning how to focus on main ideas and in research. |
| lined paper | Small quantity of lined paper kept in a duo-tang in the desk is OK. Students are asked to donate 250 sheets at the beginning of the year. Otherwise provided by the school. |
| pencil crayons | Blue, red, brown and green needed for mapping. Other colours desirable for illustrations & diagrams. |
| markers | Water based markers are optional. No permanent markers allowed with the exception of a fine tipped black felt pen for artistic signatures. |
| pencil case | Soft sided, zippered pencil cases are preferred. Large box-like cases don't fit in already crowded desks. |
| 10 duo-tangs | Students require 10 duo-tangs at the start of the year. A couple of extra ones would be good in order to submit research notes for projects. There is no room for binders in student desks. They must be kept at home. |
| tissues | Each student is asked to donate 2 boxes of tissues at the beginning of the year to the class. These are used over the course of the year. |
| indoor gym shoes | Gym shoes with non-marking soles are need for Phys. Ed. These can be kept at school in case regular shoes get dirty or wet. An extra pair of socks is advisable at certain times of the year. If students do not have gym shoes, they will be required to participate in bare feet. |
| water bottle | Students may have a water bottle at the back of the room. Its use should not be distracting to others. Water bottles need to be labeled. They may only contain water. |
Some things that are suggested for at home:
| dictionary | To assist in self-editing. Parents should feel free to give the first 3 letters of any word as a boost. |
| atlas | A simple atlas with a section on Canada is advisable. |
| public library card | Students should have their own library card to teach responsibility and independence. Students need to use the public library to find research materials as well as novels. |
| work place | Students need a regular place where school work can be done in the home. |
| calendar | A summary of due dates & special events would help the student plan work at home. |
