Eggs have always been a symbol for spring. Before the Easter holidays, students in the class will explore drawing psanky designs and decorating eggs.

Psanky

Psanky is the name given to the decorative geometric designs found on many Ukranian Easter eggs. Some sites that give background on this are:

Students will create their own designs in 2 dimensions. Egg shaped templates are provided as are resource books, designs and samples.
Medium: markers on fingerpaint paper

Decorated Eggs

Decorating eggs occurs in many cultures. Students will decorate their own eggs. Getting the egss to and from school safely is at least half of the challenge of this activity.

Medium: hardboiled or blown-out eggs, permanent markers, acrylic gloss medium & varnish
