Letter Writing

Home Journal ~ students write a letter to parents every week (usually on Wednesday)

students are expected to write their letter in "block letter style" and the letter needs to contain 3 paragraphs
students may write about whatever they wish, though most write about school & friends
the 1st paragraph must answer questions asked by the parent
parents are encouraged to write back, ask questions & expect answers - students write better letters when they are engaged in a written dialogue
if a letter is not written back, parents should sign at the bottom of the letter to indicate that the Home Journal did in fact make it home & that the letter was read
If a parent cannot write in English, they can write in the language of their choice.
