Term 1

Dramatic Recital of Poetry
Students are to pick 2 poems - a 12 line poem & a 16 line poem. These poems can be of any type and do not need to rhyme. They need to be published poems. 
Students will be expected to memorize the poems and recite them dramatically. Sock puppets will be made in art class to be used during the presentations. The skills objective is to enact, rehearse, and present drama works based on poems. 
Students will be evaluated. Students are encouraged to use the Poetry Recital Evaluation Form as a guideline as they prepare for their performance.

Term 3

Historical Fiction Monologue
Students are expected to read a Historical Fiction novel by term 3. The historical fiction needs to take place in one of the ancient civilizations studied in term 2. They are to select one of the main characters from this novel and write a 1 to 2 page script, or monologue which they will then read to the class. They are to write and present this monologue in the first person.
Biographical Presentation
Nut about Knots
Students will learn how to tie a variety of knots. They will demonstrate the tying technique & teach the class 1 of the knots.
