WHY?
|
Under the dedicated and enthusiastic
leadership of teacher Elfi Berndl, the
students of Richmond Hill's Charles Howitt
Public School have contributed significantly
to the environmental well-being of their
community by participating in hands-on
activities that have helped restore the
ecological integrity of Richvale Greenway.
To this end, the students have
“Adopted-a-Spot” in order to focus their
stewardship efforts. The Town, Ontario
Streams and Evergreen, who have all assisted
them with their work, will dedicate a sign
to the park and its users. This important
sign communicates the enormous care that the
students have given, and will continue to
give, to the health of the park, our
community, and our larger environment.
The Richvale Greenway is a series of wooded
trails as along a beautiful section of the
Upper East Don River. The trail system links
Richvale Community Centre with Maplewood
Park, Richvale Forest and the heritage
buildings at Woods Park.
